Predator: Badlands is getting closer and closer. After today’s release of the first teaser trailer from 20th Century Studios, we can start to get an idea of where the new film starring Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatangi and Elle Fanning will go.
The synopsis of Predator: Badlands from 20th Century Studios reads, “In Predator: Badlands, a young outcast Predator (Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatangi) forges an unlikely alliance with Thia (Elle Fanning), a Weyland-Yutani android, to face down the ultimate enemy, a creature that can’t be killed.” The first Predator: Badlands teaser trailer from 20th Century Studios introduces the young Predator named Dek and his android partner, Thia.
Predator: Badlands will expand the larger world of the Predator and Alien movies
Predator: Badlands will be its movie while still being a part of the larger Predator universe. Badlands is also expected to be a part of the larger Predator and Alien shared universe. The first teaser trailer from 20th Century Studios for Predator: Badlands shows off some major worldbuilding for the Predator/Alien universe. Rumors have also stated that a large part of the story will take place on the Predator’s home world. Although the first teaser trailer from 20th Century Studios for Predator: Badlands does not confirm this directly, it does show small glimpses of the Predator home world. It also shows the lush forests and the Predator home settlements that look like they are very active. The trailer shows several Predators involved in either a standoff or fighting each other.
Predator: Badlands will dive further into the cultures, language, and values of the Predator species
Predator: Badlands is expected to get into further detail about the cultures, language, and values of the Predator species. Director and co-writer Dan Trachtenberg of Predator: Badlands worked on the 2022 reboot Prey. It was the complete opposite, as Prey was very barebones and stripped the Predator movie down to the bare minimum. Prey was about a Predator hunt in the 1700s in the American Great Plains. Predator: Badlands seems to be about to dive even further into the cultures, language, and values of the Predator species.
Elle Fanning is the android co-star in the film.
Elle Fanning is starring in the film as a Weyland-Yutani android by the name of Thia. In the first teaser trailer from 20th Century Studios for Predator: Badlands, Elle Fanning’s android, Thia, walks in a perfect slow-motion manner and is nonchalantly cool and calculated. She has these very mechanical lines, but also shows intrigue and empathy towards Dek during the trailer. In the new Predator film, it is the first film in which an android has been so heavily involved with the Predators.
Dan Trachtenberg is the new face of the Predator franchise. Before Trachtenberg’s work on the 2022 reboot, Prey, the franchise had a very weak track record. Dan Trachtenberg’s Prey was a big hit on Hulu and received great critical acclaim. He was such a hit that he is now coming back for Predator: Badlands and also another series for Hulu, Predator: Killer of Killers. It should be noted that Predator: Killer of Killers is an animated anthology series that is scheduled to arrive on Hulu on June 6.
The ‘Predator: Badlands’ trailer debuts
The first teaser trailer from 20th Century Studios for Predator: Badlands gives fans a quick look at what to expect in the new film. There are shots of Predators fighting each other in all their ceremonial armor. Viewers get a closer look at Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatangi in his Predator skin and watch where he goes. Fanning is seen in the trailer with her gun, which has glowing energy, that she is pointing in a certain direction. Thia is also seen holding some type of robot and shooting a bullet from her finger. An unknown shadow is also seen throughout the trailer, and it looks like it is stalking Dek. There are also some very brief shots of what appears to be an unkillable animal that is unlike any creature from the Predator or Alien movies.
Predator: Badlands will not only be a new addition to the Predator and Alien shared universe, but also will be a new look into the Predator species. Instead of Predator: Badlands having the point of view from the humans being hunted. Predator: Badlands will have the point of view of the Predator species. In this case, the Predator is a young outcast that is known as Dek. If Dek is on a journey to win back his honor and prove that he is still a worthy Predator, then some new things are coming for the movie.
